How are you doing on your New Year's resolutions? I read that after 3 months, less than 50% of us are still on track. Forty percent don't even bother any more because of previous failure. First of all, don't give up. It's Spring (okay, Fall for some of my clients and colleagues!). Any time is a good time to recommit to yourself.

I have an idea tha thas worked well so far for me and some of my family members and friends. And it is
SO SIMPLE! Try choosing ONE WORD instead of a list of: got to change this, got do more of this, less of that, etc. My Sister, Nieces, Nephews, Grand Nieces and Grand Nephews, my ex-Brother-in-Law and a few friends each chose one word to focus on for the year. Some of the words? Mindful, Rules, Balance, Joy, Listen, Walk, Stretch, Patience, Fun....

Mine was
Listen. This word has many layers of meaning for me. Mostly it calls me back from the brink when I am feeling out of body, out of mind, out of heart. When I need it most, I remind myself to listen. What sounds do I hear? Tick Tock, Gurgle, Woosh, Breath in Breath out. And I have made more of a commitment to truly listen to my clients using all of my senses. In general, I am trying to ask better questions and actually listen to the answers!

What's your word?
Try it. Can it bring you back from the brink? I'd love to hear what happens when you practice this for a while. Keeping it simple, that's the idea.
